SUMMARY:Animals of the Americas in Print
DESCRIPTION:Animals of the Americas in Print\nAugust 7 – September 10\, 2014\nOpening Reception: Thursday August 7\, 5-8p.m.\n\nFor the first time in 20 years\, the Edina Art Center is pleased to host a printmaking exhibition. Animals of the Americas in Print is a display that brings together a group of printmakers whose inspired animal imagery was created from their travels and introspective observation of the natural world.  The group’s interests and careers have intersected while living in Minnesota and they will share an exhibition of common themes\, imagery and related technique. The Edina Art Center will highlight the concurrent paths of the artists taken in examination of one common interest of animals within the context of living in and traveling throughout the Americas. \nSurreal\, humorous and subtle imagery that excites the mythical imaginations within us all is finely printed and presented by five artists: Josh Winkler\, Joanne Price\, Brian Hartley-Sago\, Kurt Seaberg and Jeremy Lund. Each has skillfully applied different print techniques to visualize their experiences; harnessing the beauty of engraving\, etching\, woodcut and lithography. As each artist finds common ground through printmaking\, they find a unique visual language within their respective techniques that comes alive with the animal imagery visualized on paper. \nThe strength and unity in this exhibition is revealed in the passion for the natural world and the common impulse to explore. Come share this experience with us as we open this exhibit on August 7th to the public. The opening runs 5-8p.m. with food and refreshments being served in the Art Center tearoom. Free and open to the public. \n– See more at: http://edinamn.gov/index.php?section=art-center-gallery#sthash.4Ka5P7bn.dpuf
